In the moments when life feels emotionally intense, it can be tempting to react from old patterns. But what if we chose to pause instead?
It can take a whole lot of courage to stop inwardly (at first) when emotions are raging~during an upset, a confrontation, or an argument.
It requires a deep trust that beneath the emotions the mind is throwing up, there’s a silent space we can fall back into~a space that is completely at ease with being seen as wrong, bad, mistreated, and so on. In fact, it has no preference either way.
Even when thoughts try to intrude, the heart is pounding, the breath is rapid, and emotions are on fire.
The ego ~the protective part of the mind~ will try every way it can to convince us otherwise. It often works through doubt, defence, or the urge to control.
Through meditation, we begin to train ourselves to identify with this space rather than be entangled in confusion, anger, frustration, or pain.
The desire for peace has to be stronger than the need to be right.
And through this dedicated practice~again and again~we begin to recognise that we can meet life’s challenges from a deeper, wholly natural maturity.
This is not about perfection, but presence. Over time, we come to know that peace isn’t something we have to earn~it’s what we return to, again and again.
